The NAIDOC school visit to Hillview State School was in recognition of NAIDOC week, which was held from 4th to the 11th July. The day was in step with the celebration theme of “Heal Country".

Our Indigenous students, as well as our Year 4 to 6 classes participated in this very worthwhile event. All students were transported to Hillview from Tamrookum, and back again, via bus. The students were accompanied by teachers Ms Howard, Mrs Devitt and Mr Kajewski as well as Chappy Sam and our lovely T/A Miss Margaret.

Students participated in a number of activities which included painting, dancing, games and story-telling. Lunch was also provided to the students, thanks to the local community.

All of these wonderful activities were organised by Mrs Ritchie from Hillview State School and presented by local Indigenous characters, as well as our very own Miss Margaret. Everyone who was involved in the day stated their enjoyment and hoped that this very special day was going to continue into the future.
